The Aksren Clan Page 2
The Aksren government is one of imperial
rulership. These rulers have absolute control of
every portion of society. There are five empires as
of 2350, but one has control of the others. It is the
former main remnant of the Empire of Jalgren or
as it is known as the Empire of Itsis (The Empire of
the Phoenix). Itsis maintains a steady and current
good relationship with the other empires. Even if
the other empires have their own self-autonomy,
Itsis is a powerhouse of trade, commerce, and
military might. To defy it would result in a
catastrophic loss of income and resources for the
weaker empires. Unlike the Shal’rein, the ruler is
simply known as “the immortal one,” for good
reason. A mystery remains onto the current
Aksren Empress Itsis on her origins, but what is
known is that she is a ruler that strives on
perfection. Supposedly, she is a clone of
somebody. Every four hundred years, the body
would die, and a clone is made of the empress.
Once the body dies, then the clone will take up the
next seat. This cycle of birth and death has run for
thousands, perhaps even tens of thousands of
years.
In 2339, the Aksren were in good shape to
fight again. Its economies had more than
recovered, and its planets were repaired and
reseeded. It wasn’t difficult for them to go on the
offense again, often with mixed results in victories
and losses. By then, the Yutilians had a firm grasp
in defending their worlds, and the Shal’rein made
stubborn advances and losses against the Aksren.
However, there is a frightening argument that
despite the fact that the Aksren lose a lot more
wars, the clan will ultimately win in the future,
and when it does, it might not be as merciful as
the great Emperor of Jalgren would commit to.
Even with the advent of Zilik’s Disease, the Aksren
women continue to fight relentlessly like there is
no tomorrow. However, not all was as it seemed.
Deep down, there are reports that the Aksren have
disagreements with their leadership. Some feel
that peace is needed because a good economy
needs a stable workforce. A dead workforce will
get you nowhere. With half the population dead,
that economy had been reduced by half.
Another situation is the fact that some
Aksren families had moved to Yutilian space. Now
part of the T’rintar clan, these Aksren act and fight
like the Yutilians. While deemed as “Lower life
traitors” by the Aksren clan, the T’rintar Aksren
has had a long history of racism to struggle
against. Many fight to redeem themselves and
swear their loyalties to the T’rintar clan. It has
been revealed that the T’rintar clan now has
access to spies that can easily acquire information
in the Aksren clan. A few of these Aksren now
have the ability to spread truths and lies to sway
the people. This forces the Aksren clan to engage
in a rather aggressive repression of freedoms for
fear of revolt. Unfortunately, this does nothing
and only further agitates the population. There is
a strong and ever-growing movement to have a
new government put in place that would mimic
the United Itrean Republics ideals and even a form
of Democracy.
Ship Design Philosophy
It is often easy for human scholars to
compare the Aksren fleet as cumbersome when
compared to the other Itrean clan fleets. Quantity
over quality is used to say that their ships are
adequate and can be built in substantial numbers,
but that philosophy wasn’t always true. A superb
economy can warrant a superb fleet. Jalgren didn’t
believe in having lots of disposable ships. He said
it himself that “I create these ships. I watch these
ships get built. If I can’t enjoy it, then the crew
can’t enjoy it. I design these ships. If they fail to
fight, then I’ve failed the Empire.”
The ships of the beginning years of the
Jalgren Empire were incredibly sturdy and well
built. Not only that, but they could be constructed
in fantastical numbers. It is also easy for human
scholars to compare current Itrean vessels with
current UHN warships. This wasn’t always the
case, but it could be argued that the Aksren clan
were the type that surprisingly had the most
similar ships to that of UHN vessels. Jalgren had
introduced ships that reflect very much that of the
current Itrean vessels of today. Typically, the
standard Aksren warship carries two railguns and
torpedo launchers. This very rarely changed in the
last 31,000 years, but there were also specialized
warship designs. Different Aksren Empires did
have varied ship designs that mimicked Yutilian
warships. The simple adage, “if it works, don’t fix
it,” was the slogan for the Itrean warships. The
Aksren were no different. When the Ikra class
battleships came out, the Aksren combat
doctrines didn’t have to change at all with the new
ships. They simply copied and repeated the legacy
of ancient Aksren warships. It would have to be
the other clans that had to adjust more to them.
Aksren warships are generally the most
balanced in the imperial and post-imperial years.
Thirty-one thousand years, and they basically
performed the same roles. This was mostly due to
the fact of how both the Yutilian and Shal’rein
fought. Aksren warships carried railguns to fight
the Shal’rein up close, and the torpedoes were
used to fight against the Yutilian long-range ships.
While they were not grievously good at their jobs
(With the exception of Jalgren’s fleets), the ability
to be multi-tools in warfare is what saved the
Aksren warships in the long run. With a somewhat
larger fleet, the ships can quickly back each other
up if one is in trouble.
While bad leadership is often the blame for
defeats, it’s not entirely the case with the crews
that operate them. The Aksren do care about their
equipment. Out of all the clans, the Aksren treat
their crews with the most respect, even more than
the T’rintar clan of today. The Aksren have a
saying, “Poorly paid laborers can work well in the
fields, but if you paid soldiers poorly, then they
have less reason to defend your homeland.”
Governments ensure that military families are
justly treated.
With that said, even with superior
economics, the Aksren infrastructure seems to
work for the most part, but even their warships
are not impervious. Quantity versus quality is
often looked at in the current argument of today,
and to many of the Aksren, quantity is better. Still,
it overlooks the past achievements of Aksren
history.
Aksren warships of the 24th century is
typically painted in red color. This color troupe
was something that had been seen right after the
end of the Empire of Jalgren. However, not all
Aksren warships of the past had this type of color.
Jalgren’s fleets had colors of red and gray mixed
together. Other empires had various colors of light
red, dark red, and red mixed with black. Other
empire ships were given a black, gray, or pink
color in appearance.
Philosophy in Ground warfare
The Aksren clan combat strategy is one that
is often easily compared to the Yutilians. Fast
strike sieges are imperative to taking down and
conquering a world. Even then, the Empire of
Jalgren was not a heavy army-based society and,
in fact, never really needed much of a standing
army, to begin with. In the post-imperial years,
both the Yutilians and Aksren relied very much on
the same types of vehicles and the same type of
roles. Hovertanks and hover transports were used
frequently. It was the only hope that they really
had in standing up against the Shal’rein clan on
the ground. Aksren soldiers can also be compared
to that of the Yutilian soldiers, even right down to
size and combat prowess. With Aksren soldiers,
there are subtle differences, however. Some claim
that the Aksren women, right now, fight with less
mercy than the Yutilians, but there is debate on
that. The clan soldiers fight when ordered, and
their reactions and attitudes can be almost
comparable to humans. It’s the fact that the
Itreans had been used to so much bloodshed and
violence that the Aksren clan threshold of cruelty
can be easily dismissed.
The biggest current challenge that the
Aksren clan faces is the fact that they have a
weaker army or marine force than the current
Yutilian and Shal’rein ground forces contain. This is
mostly for the fact that Shal’rein families fight on
the side of both those clans, while the Aksren clan
doesn’t have any. In addition, the feared battle
tanks of the Shal’rein don’t exist in the Aksren
ground forces, forcing them to improvise and
introduce their form of half-track tanks. With this,
even the Aksren know and acknowledge that they
must go all in or not at all when they commit to a
ground invasion.
Impacts of the Aksren Clan
It isn’t difficult to overlook the current
impacts that the Aksren clan has brought forth to
humanity. The head crested warships are looked
at as bloodlust marauders designed to bring only
death upon the human race. It has been revealed
that the Aksren desire to conquer or decimate the
human race is one of many varied reasons. Some
of this has to be due to the fact that the first laid
incident of contact was when Aksren warships
spotted human vessels trying to open contact with
the T’rintar clan (A most hated of an enemy). The
incident of JJ-78, as it is remembered to the
humans, led to the conclusion that there was an
alien race to the Aksren clan, and they were
attempting peace with their enemies. Sadly, that
wasn’t what the ships were doing, as the humans
on board had no idea there was a civil war in
progress. Unfortunately, it was too late. The
Aksren clan, much like the other Itrean clans, had
much fear and skepticism towards aliens, all in
due thanks to the Emphra Wars not long ago. The
mild form of xenophobia didn’t help any either.
While there were efforts to look into a possible
peace treaty, the Aksren appeared to want none of
it.
However, even the Aksren clan had varied
opinions towards the human race. Some were
afraid that they were incredibly powerful, much
like the Emphra and having an endless wave of
warships. The Aksren, when they were invading
Cipra, were described to do a “Cautious siege”
where even though they clearly had the
advantage, they were engaging in one of the
slower sieges ever known in the last 1,000 years.
Most speculate that the Aksren clan were waiting
for the T’rintar “allies” to come out and assault
them suddenly or that the human race was
amassing a fantastical fleet to obliterate the
offense, but nothing happened. When they saw
that the UHN was bleeding itself dry in defending
Cipra, they assembled reinforcements and went in
to conquer the colony.
To humanity, there is obviously a negative
opinion towards them. The Aksren clan had long
but declared war on the human race, but it’s one
that has left humanity to really wonder about
events. If JJ-78 was the catalyst for their
aggression, what if it went the other way? What if
it was an Aksren ship that the UHN saw first
rather than the T’rintar? An interesting scenario is
that the Aksren might have been just as open to
having an alliance with the human race against
the T’rintar and Shal’rein in turn. If so, the Aksren
might not be viewed as antagonistic as they are
right now.
Despite this, the Aksren of the T’rintar clan
from the UWA are generally well-received. To
them, the Aksren of the clan do what they can to
distance themselves from the Aksren clan, and
there are reflections in the fact that some humans
have taken Aksren women as wives due to the
UWA/T’rintar clan dating networks. Regardless, it’s
an uphill battle for them as they are the least
chosen of the women at the moment.
