Dragons....if it is one thing that is apparent, is
the enormous variety of dragons that exist
throughout the world. Dragons are probably
considered to be the most unique concept of
discussion in mythology and mythical characters.
The fact is that no two dragons are alike, no two
dragons are entirely the same, and no two dragons
behave the same way, have all led to worldwide
view of these unique creatures. Dragons
universally by some cultures are considered
terrifying and menacing while other cultures
consider dragons to be a gift and protector to
mankind.
The concept of Sárkány is that he is a
Hungarian dragon. Interestingly, he is considered
to be more of a hydra in some mythologies by
having seven heads, but his legend have claims
that he is able to take up human form as well.
In Tales of Heroes, the history of the dragons
varies from dragon to dragon. Dragons typically
have two or three forms that they can take such as
a human form, their original full dragon form, or
sometimes an in-between form (In the case of
Sárkány, three forms). The story with this dragon
however, is one that is easily definable by him.
Always the first to rush into battle, he often
narrates himself as he expresses it to all to hear....
"Courage! Bravery! Enduring! I am the great
Sárkány. I am the founder of the Great Dragon's
Circle, I lead the dragons to glory! I charge forth to
any battle knowing it will be my last. Let no sword
fail me, for I devout myself and the others with me
to the defense of all that live! Failure is never an
option, only victory! There is no end to my swings,
my armor will fail but my spirit will run through
the enemy like a blade. Let all the enemies that
stand in my way know that I will never stop! To
victory! To glory!"
As crazy as the other mythics will view him,
Sárkány is a character that is actually played
important roles in history. Almost like some
destiny was to befall him, the dragon would
somehow get a hold of the legendary sword
Clarent. In mythology, the Clarent was another
legendary sword used by the the Great King
Arthur. Known as the Sword of Peace, King Arthur
would use the blade to knight his knights contrary
to the Excalibur. It was the Clarent that would hold
this important role in the creation of the Round
Table. Regretfully though, the sword would be
used by his own son to murder his father. This
regretful story would stain the history of the
blade. In Tales of Heroes however......
The blade found its way to the dragon.
Sárkány, whatever his past history was, whether
he was an evil or a good dragon, would find the
sword and know his true calling. He was to lead
the dragons of Europe and gather them into one
following King Arthur as some distant role model.
The creation of the Dragon's Circle was one of
extreme importance just like the Coalition of
Deities was. Almost all the dragons of Europe allied
and joined under his cause to usher a new era of
peace. Human mortals would watch as dragons
which were regarded as dangerous and violent, to
disappear and end any attempt to attack mortals.
Sadly, the Dragon's Circle would take heavy
losses against the destructive entity known as
Cataclysm. Most of the dragons in the Coalition of
Deities were wiped out much like the other deities
and mythical characters were. Despite the great
courage of the dragons, only five remained of the
great Circle once Cataclysm was destroyed, but
Sárkány is a character that never gives up. Not all
the dragons were wiped out. Survivors far and
wide still exist, and much like the other deities
and mythics, he vows to help rebuild the Circle to
its former glory and to continue to serve the
Coalition of Deities and his Circle to his last dying
breath.
Among one human mortal to find him was the
Chinese woman Daiyu, another important
character and one of the few human mortals to
serve the Coalition of Deities. During the 20th
century and early 21st Century, these two
characters stuck together to one another and
were used to each other's personalities and quirks.
While it was never considered a marriage, Daiyu
would be a woman that would never leave the
dragon's side and always enjoy every minute of
the dashing character. But like anything else, the
dragon is easily distracted by his moments of
glory. His past rides with him no matter where he
goes. Even in sex, he is not always thinking of the
passion of the moment but instead thinking of
what person he can save next or what great
mission will befall him next.
