The Yip’turin Clan
*Spoilers if you haven't read past Gabatrix: The
First Peace arc*
“So little is known about our history. Genocide has
taken its toll as we barely remember the species
that could have lived alongside us,” A Shal’rein
historian.
Species Currently Classified as Extinct
Known History
In the far ancient recorded histories of the
Itreans, it was believed that there were numerous
species. At the moment, nine of these species have
survived written history enough to have a valid
explanation of who they were and what they did.
Sadly, almost little evidence exists of the oldest
extinct clans, but there can be descriptions
written about when it comes to clans such as the
Yip’Turin.
The clan species that persisted record the
Yip’Turin as the tallest of all the Itreans, even
taller than the Alara’jal. They were described as
having long necks (hence their extreme height)
and were the hardest to travel to other worlds.
Yip’Turin translates to “Long Necked Walkers.”
According to human scholars, it is most likely that
the Yip’Turin might have evolved from a long-neck
dinosaur such as the Brachiosaurus or a member
of the Diplodocidae family. Other speculations
have them considered more in the line of a two-
legged walking dinosaur with elongated necks
(With a possibility of a four-legged dinosaur
evolving to walk on two legs).
It was often mentioned that, for most
cases, the Yip’Turin were the gentle giants of the
Itreans. At the same time, they coexisted with the
other clans. There were ongoing issues that
pervaded the giants. For one, the resources needed
to feed them were immense, just like the Alara’jal.
This constantly led to conflicts in securing
habitable worlds that could sustain them. In
battle, the Yip’Turin fought well, except when
fighting the Alara’jal in ground combat.
From what is known, the Yip’Turin never
focused much on ships. While they had their own
space fleets, they were no match for the more
inhospitable clans. This put them into major
disadvantages at times when it came to their own
expansions. For the most part, the clan species
focused hard on negotiations to keep them alive.
Despite this, the clan species did engage in
some expansion programs that often led to
conflicts. For example, the Yip’Turin were
legendary for having to engage the Alara’jal and
the Gesh’Ot clans. At times, they were victorious,
and other times they suffered defeat after defeat.
The mystery of how they died off was mostly due
to the crowded territories that the Itreans had in
the beginning years of their colonization. While
the Itreans naturally spread out to the best of
their abilities, the Yip’Turin’s fleets were simply
ineffective in protecting their space and pushing
outward.
What ultimately led to the demise of the
Yip’Turin was simply the overdominance of the
other clans. While they had their own star
systems, greedy advances by the other clans
would corner the clan to remote sectors. While the
Yip’Turin struggled to keep the peace, there were
strong desires to wipe out the long-necked species
altogether eventually. Another possibility was the
fact that the clan race had the slowest
technological progressions than that of the other
species. By the time the Alara’jal launched an all-
out assault on their capital, the Yip’Turin were
using bolt action rifles on the ground to fight
against space battleships from orbit with basic
cannons. Needless to say, the Yip’Turin were
doomed. By 411,000 years ago, the species was
proclaimed to be extinct. Further efforts by their
enemies were made to wipe out their history from
existence.
It is unknown if there were Yip’Turin
survivors out in the fringes of space. With little
ships near the end, they were trapped in their
worlds when the shelling began. Sadly, there
simply never were any further discoveries of the
clan species beyond 411,000 years ago. If they were
alive, then they would have been detected or
found even hundreds of thousands of years later.
