Muezza
Among the many stories around the world,
some including those that worship Islam may be
surprised with the tale of Muezza, but who is she?
What part does she play in what is considered to
be the second-largest religion on Earth?
The prophet Muhammad is the key important
figure in the formation of Islam. Born sometime
around 570 AD, Muhammad in his adult years
would be visited by the angel Gabriel where he
would be inspired to write the Quran. In the later
years, Muhammad and his followers would spread
the word throughout the Middle East, where it
would later spread through Asia, Africa, and
almost through Europe.
However, all of this might have never
happened if it weren't for the beloved feline. Some
texts argue that sometime during Muhammad's
life, a venomous snake was about to bite him
when a cat attacked and stopped the snake from
killing him. The story of the cat savior would be
well remembered for this heroic act. This course of
action was so crucial that he valued all cats for
who they were.
The stories continue often saying that
Muhammad actually encountered a cat and a
kitten that was in front of him and his army when
engaging in the Uhud Campaign. When he saw the
cat, he actually ordered his soldiers to go around
them. Whatever the case may be, the prophet had
adopted and had a favorite cat by the name of
Muezza. During one day when he was awoken to
do his sermons, he had found Muezza sleeping on
his robe. He had such love and care for the cat,
that he actually cut the portion of his robe off
rather than disturb her. In another story, while he
would conduct his sermons, Muezza would climb
up onto his lap, where he would pause and stroke
the cat's fur.
It is here that the Quran actually has rules on
how cats are treated. It is not surprising that even
in mosques today, cats are welcomed and allowed
to walk and participate in prayer. Muslims are
encouraged to adopt and take care of cats because
it is considered to be good fortune and an act of
kindness. It is not surprising that humanity's love
and care for cats not only survived well through
the ancient Egyptian Empire but would continue
through Islam.
In Tales of Heroes, the story of Muezza is very
real. The cat had saved the prophet's life, and the
prophet had adopted the cat as his favorite pet. He
took good care of her and was always there with
him when he did his prayers and sermons. Of
course, like anything, times would pass and
eventually the cat would face the end of her life
due to old age. Upon reaching the end, she would
look at Allah and was given a great wish. She had
done a wonderful act in helping save the prophet
and played a crucial role. What would be her
deepest wish?
Muezza had one wish and made it clear. She
wanted to walk the world as something new. She
wanted the ability to walk the world again and
spread the word of Islam. Her knowledge of the
religion by being by the prophet's side had allowed
her to learn. Her wish was granted but in the most
unique way possible. She had watched as she was
given eternal life and the ability to take up human
form if she wished. Her body had transformed into
that much like you see above, so that she would
enjoy life and continue her work amongst the
humans.
It was no easy task for her and she
understood why she had been given eternal life.
This was no simple task and one that proved to be
even more difficult to fully accomplish. Other
religions existed around the world that competed
with Islam. Christianity often stood as a major
cornerstone in places like Europe. But she wasn't
alone in her journeys, and it would be a learning
experience for the feline mythic. The gift for her
was knowledge of the world around her. She had
learned how to play the flute and would later
befriend the great Reprobus (Saint Christopher). It
was here that she learned that even though he
considered himself non-Muslim, it did not stop
them from helping each other out.
This was the beginning of what would create
the "Peaceful Five," an attempt to create a circle of
the major religions around the world. Non-human
representatives from important religions around
Earth would all gather to discuss important events
and how to keep peace and prosperity together for
all of humanity. Muezza was often in full
agreement that to be Muslim is to know peace.
Non-violence was the way regardless of who you
were. But this was no easy feat to accomplish.
Wars such as the Great Crusades were all devoted
to the struggle between religions. Christianity,
Islam, and Judaism were all head to head against
one another that would cost the lives of millions
and leave a scar on humanity and its view of
religion.
Muezza and Reprobus had turned the
Crusades into the first true test of the Peaceful
Five. Its goal was to encourage both sides to lay
down their arms in the value of non-violence and
peace. Both religions, at least to them, cherished
the idea. Despite all the efforts, it proved to be
futile, but it would be learning experiences for all
sides. The Peaceful Five was one of many examples
of an attempted unity of mythical characters and
creatures. When the Coalition of Deities was
formed, it did coincide with the ideas of the
Peaceful Five, but it did value more towards
violence as a preferred method to solve its goals.
Instead, the Coalition allowed the creation of the
Non-Aligned Movement to allow groups like the
Peaceful Five to continue its goal of peace. Muezza
serves as one of the prominent members
representing Islam for her people. It is here that
she has found her place, encouraging others to lay
down their weapons instead of bringing harm to
one another. It remains a goal that she struggles
to this day. Maybe one day, you may be traveling
down the desert to hear a magical flute playing.
Perhaps Muezza is there to ensure you have a good
and safe journey to Mecca.
