Lilith (NSFW)
Going as far back as the formation of
humanity itself, there is the myth and stories of
one known as Lilith, but who is she and what is
she to us today in modern mythology?
The concept and knowledge of Lilith actually
goes as far back as the Sumerian, Akkadian
Empire, and Babylonia cultures. Her stories even
appear in the bible as the first wife of Adam
contrary to the story that Eve had established so
much in the origin of mankind. Due to various
reasons including her not wanting to be
subservient to Adam, she left Eden to fend for her
own. She would meet and fall in love with the
Archangel Samael that would corrupt her form to
what many would consider to be a monster on
mankind.
Lilith is well established in folklore to many
aspects, a vampire. As stories would progress, she
would be established with the desire to feed on
the flesh of others, to attacking pregnant women,
to even being established as some form of
succubus. It is not uncommon for most media to
portray Lilith as an evil woman that was hellbent
on consuming others for her own selfish desires
and gain. However with all that being said, there
has been some revival in how individuals look at
her. Even modern day annalists have felt that
Lilith's story has been unfairly treated. Some have
felt that she was simply a victim rather than a
villain to the changing atmospheres of how people
view her. It was Samael that some viewed as the
true villain or monstrosity that would make Lilith
become what she would ultimately be.
In Tales of Heroes, Lilith considers herself the
first vampire to ever to come into existence
although there is not enough evidence to fully
suggest that. The world is filled with various
creatures that devour human flesh, drink blood, or
drain the essence of others. It maybe possible that
she is half right being the first of a certain type of
Vampire that would be more well known as the
Romanian type Vampire. These vampires are
known for their abilities to do quick teleports, fly,
see in the dark, have powerful strength, etc. They
are known to have grayish skin, red or yellow
glowing eyes (In the case of Lilith, black and red
glowing eyes), have bat like wings, fangs, etc.
Lilith's story follows very much like the bible
goes in Tales of Heroes. She has two forms which is
her human form and her vampiric form consist of.
She is immune to damage by sunlight and immune
to anything that would normally kill a vampire
with the exception of another mythic, god, deity,
or some mystical weapon/magic. While she might
have not been the first vampire, she was
responsible for bringing forth the rise of the
Golden Age of Vampires during Vlad the Impaler's
reign. Forced to serve the Devil, she learned and
offered the ability of Vampirism to Vlad in which
he, his son, and his daughter would accept.
Vampires cannot pass the curse by simply biting
another, a certain set of actions must be made
including a ritual has to be done to even
accomplish it. During the Golden Age, Lilith would
have a good time being by Vlad's side and having
her own place to operate. However, like anything
else, time passes and the age would come to an
end.
This hasn't stopped the "First Vampire" from
living on her own and slowly developing more of
an understanding for herself. While she does and
freely admits of having a bad history of attacking
human beings for the desire of blood
indiscriminately, she has also acquired a lot of
information on vampires from around most of the
world. She is often described as bipolar, being
kindhearted and friendly to someone to being a
savage and utterly horrifying creature to the same
individual. She has been finding an equilibrium
with herself. In the later years she would
deliberately target criminals that would attack
and rob people on the roads figuring that society
wouldn't care if the scum were swept away as she
would get a well deserved meal in return. In a lot
of ways this has made her into sort of a super hero
even though she never claims to be. For her, Lilith
has one desire and that is peace with herself and
helping other vampires that are like her. It is
because of this that she reluctantly joined the
Coalition of Deities later on in the 17th century.
The Coalition would offer forgiveness to any past
actions that vampires committed, offer ways to
suppress any hunger of blood or the flesh, and
provide care for them for their service. For Lilith it
was a second chance in life and she helped play a
role in getting other vampires to join up the
Coalition as well. Any of the other vampires that
refused to join the Coalition and continue
attacking human mortals would be hunted down,
captured, or wiped out to ensure that mankind
would live their own destiny. Lilith would have no
hesitation in this new road of work and enjoys
some relative peace for herself.
Lilith is described in her human form to have
her signature red hair that she is known for.
Others have even declared that the John Collier
painting of 1887 is a very close proximity to what
Lilith's human form looks like. In great aspect she
has had similar paintings of her in the same style
of her in her vampiric form in turn so people can
see both sides of her personality and body. Just
like most of the Romanian type vampires, she
cannot see her reflection in the mirror/water and
photography itself cannot pick her up. This forces
others to paint, sketch, or draw her in order for
her to even see what she looks like. The tragedy
and curse that she has will likely remain for her
for as long as she lives as she progresses into the
21st century and beyond.
Just like the Collier painting, Lilith stands in
her vampiric form in what could be considered the
Garden of Eden. Perhaps it is the location or
perhaps it isn't, for Lilith the story of Adam and
Eve will always remain with her for as long as she
lives.
