The Gesh’Ot Clan
*Spoilers if you haven't read past Gabatrix: The
First Peace arc*
“There were people that were shorter than us. The
Gesh’Ot were nothing to be trifled with. They were
still capable of doing remarkable things,” A
Yutilian historian.
Species Currently Classified as Extinct
Known History
What was often known as “The Tiny
Dancers,” the Gesh’Ot’s history is far better
recorded than the other extinct clans. Their ability
to survive far longer than the other extinct clans
was legendary and served as a constant reminder
to the Itreans that being short doesn’t mean that
you’re weak. The average height of the Gesh’Ot
was about less than a meter or at about 1 to 2 feet
from top to bottom. Their bodies were thin and
dainty.
Human scholars believe that the Gesh’Ot
were most likely descendants of the
Compsognathus dinosaur, although it’s quite
easily possible that there were other smaller
dinosaurs that they descended from. How they
managed to compete against the other Itrean
clans has been a mystery at first, but they did
persevere.
The most likely probability of the ancient
years was that the Gesh’Ot were excellent
negotiators. Their smaller statures required less
food, and it was quite easy to share with them.
Early peace treaties established with the Yutilians
and the Aksren were made with even alliances to
help work together. This was often quite
challenging to perform as the Yutilians, and the
Aksren were blood enemies even as far back as
500,000 years ago, yet the Gesh’Ot were capable of
holding the thin line together. Other possibilities
in their profound survival were the fact the
Gesh’Ot required fewer resources to take care of
themselves due to their much smaller sizes. Their
battleships were not that big but easy to create. In
space combat, the Gesh’Ot could use swarm
tactics to gang up on the larger Itrean clans, and
they managed to create some of the best fighter
craft that rivaled the Yutilians.
Another major advantage was the fact that
the Gesh’Ot had utilized the earliest surviving
recorded usage of biological warfare. Their ground-
based weapons were essentially high-powered
dart guns with the most lethal diseases and
poisons that they could create. Even the Alara’jal
and the Yip’Turin feared this small clan as a single
shot from one of these darts could easily kill a
much larger target. Their significant speeds even
made them nimble as they used high-powered
explosives to detonate the ground vehicles that
were originally intended to run them over. The
Gesh’Ot were no laughing matter of their smaller
statures. They were deadly and dangerous.
Regardless, the Gesh’Ot did make slow
advancements into other clan territories from
time to time. While battles could be fierce, their
space fleets still suffered the most in combat.
Much like the Yip’Turin, the Gesh’Ot suffered from
the lack of ability to defend themselves as other
clan species were slowly advancing forward when
they didn’t.
What eventually led to the Gesh’Ot’s demise
was actually more of barbarity made from
alliances such as the Aksren and Noo’dort clans.
While the Gesh’Ot were attempting to hold the
alliances with the Yutilians, the Aksren would
ultimately turn on the Gesh’Ot clan. The Noo’dort
were relentless in their assaults, being singularly
focused on wiping out the clan once and for all.
The Aksren would further fight back by
introducing better immunities and vaccines
against the bioweapons used by the Gesh’Ot,
rendering their dangerous weapons completely
ineffective. There is some belief that the Aksren
did sue for peace after this, but the Noo’dort never
backed off. Planet after planet was getting razed
by the clan. Eventually, the final planet fell 270,000
years ago. According to the last words spoken by
one of the Noo’dort commanders was “The Gesh’Ot
are all dead. They tasted delicious….”
The culture and tragic loss of the Gesh’Ot
were not all lost. Efforts were made to preserve
some of their memories. This would include the
preservations of the “Dancing Texts” or “Dancing
Recordings,” where the Gesh’Ot used dancing as
their form of communication. Written texts were
made even by the Aksren to help commemorate
the Gesh’Ot in their bravery to hold their own to
the end. The extinction of the clan actually helped
create a time period where there would be fewer
conflicts and struggles against each other. While
the extinction didn’t help promote the end of
“Dead Space,” it did play a part in clans trying to
find better resolutions to war. Regardless, the
impact would only last so long. The Gesh’Ot would
never be seen again past this time period.
