The Flililiok Mark 2 Class Cloaking Battleship

*Spoilers if you haven't read past Gabatrix: The First Peace arc* "Our warships are silent as nothing, unseeing, unknowing; they creep towards you and, before you know it, death," The Shish Sailor Quote.            While the UHN have their own stealth cruisers, it is the Itreans that excel in invisibility. The legacy of the Kingdom of Shish is unparalleled in its contribution towards intel gathering, recon, light strikes, and harassing the enemy. The Fli'liliok Mark 2 is just another example of stealth warships used by the Itreans. Perhaps it is the best cloaking warship of them all…. Design            The design history of the Fl'liliok is nothing new for most Itrean historians. By 200 years ago, the Kingdom of Shish had made its breakthrough in stealth technology. No longer were they utilizing stealth alloy composite constructed battleships, but that of cloaking fields. The ability to render a ship completely invisible was a shock throughout the Itreans. Space is tricky when it comes to stealth. Any small amount of heat can be picked up by radar and sensors, and large enough signatures can reveal it to all defenders to engage. Nevertheless, cloaking technology was so influential that the Yutilians continued to stay ahead in the intelligence-gathering realm. Proper defenses could be made to repel offenses with ease, and other clans would face opposition from the wayward Shish vessel that would pound lowly ships or enemy defenses into dust.             This wasn't to say that cloaking technology made the Yutilians invincible in combat. Indeed, the first designs suffered from breakdowns, heavy maintenance cycles, and poor living conditions. Human scholars can easily compare cloaking battleships to World War 2 submarines. Their ability to stay invisible was limited as the Itreans would push into anti-cloaking-ship warfare. The lack of centripetal rings would lead to deteriorating health even for a species that had managed to adapt to many different environments. The extreme cost of building them even limited the size of the Shish fleets.            Regardless, the Shish continued to push cloaking technology to its limits as years went by. Improvements to the cloaking scale emitters could render a ship invisible for much more prolonged times. Improvements to construction would decrease the cost of building such ships and ensure easier maintenance overhauls. By the time of the Emphra War, the Shish cloaking battleships proved to be a saving grace. Even if there were never enough of them, the Kingdom of Shish was always diligent in observing Emphra fleets without being detected. The other clan species made an outcry for sharing the technology. It was the only way the other clan species could mass produce more cloaking battleships to also assist in the war for their survival. Finally, the technology was shared, although, by the time it was made, the war was nearing an end.            However, the Shish weren't idiotic in their choice to reluctantly share their technology. What they gave to the other clan species was about 100 years old. The Aksren and Shal'rein began mass- producing their own series of cloaking battleships under the new United Itrean Republic. By the time the Aksren would introduce the Ryi class, the T'rintar clan would eventually introduce a "counter" to the vessel in the Fli'liliok class.            Much like the ships before, the Fl'liliok was an improvement over the Wyo'lok class introduced at the beginning of the 24th century. This, in turn, was an improvement over other past cloaking warship classes that used similar frames and designs. With the Fl'liliok, the frame had been increased in length. In addition, improved power facilities and a widened nose section were done to add additional torpedo tubes and more storage for those munitions. It was believed that the ship could maintain a cloaking field for over two years without the need to decloak. With the advent of the Civil War falling upon the Itrean Republic, the T'rintar proceeded to begin construction. History            The Fl'lilioks would arrive just at the dawning of the Itrean Civil War. Its timing was all the more important. Much as they had been used prior to the Emphra War, the T'rintar used the cloaking battleships to their fullest extent. This included everything from deep space surveillance, recon, communication monitoring, and occasional ambush missions. It is often argued that the Fl'liliok class is superior to any other clan cloaking battleship design. However, by 2340, the Empire of Rasha'Molash'Tren was starting to gain ground with the old cloaking technology. The Aksren were closing the technological gap rather quickly, with the Ryi class being not far in practicality from the Kingdom of Shish's counterpart.            In any case, the Fl'liliok had proven time and time again that cloaking battleships worked rather effectively in the civil war. Even with the advent of Zilik's Disease, the T'rintar never slowed or stopped the production of the ships. Despite their high cost, the need for these warships was ever-constant. The more vessels available meant that more systems could be monitored. Major fleet actions could be made thanks to the cloaking battleships serving as hidden logistics and communication platforms. Occasionally, some deep space raids would be made onto enemy installations.            However, even by 2340, Itrean technology was improving in finding and engaging cloaking battleships. Even prior to the Emphra War, advanced sensor and satellite networks, cloaking detection, and weapons could still track the frequency of emissions utilized by the cloaking field. Even the Fl'liliok wasn't impervious from being detected despite how well their construction wields or crews operated. The most heavily defended of worlds could easily repel cloaking warship assaults.            Regardless, there was always a niche for the T'rintar warships to operate. It wouldn't be until 2344, when the Aksren would unveil the Kin Ryi class, that the T'rintar would counter with the Fl'liliok Mark 2 class Cloaking Battleship. Even then, production of the Mark 1 wouldn't come to an end until 2347. It isn't expected for the Mark 1s to be retired anytime soon. The Mark 2 features a lengthened hull and elongated bow section to carry more munitions. *Spoilers if you haven’t read Gabatrix: The Cipra Campaign*            During Operation Desert Shrike, the fleet campaign to retake Cipra utilized some Fl'liliok class Cloaking Battleships. The ships helped serve as cloaked communications platforms to the T'rintar capital worlds and Mars in case additional reinforcements were needed. All the ships survived the encounter unharmed. However, there were attempts made to track and destroy them or knock out their gates.
