The Alara’jal Clan Page 2

This didn’t mean that the Alara’jal were hopeless in space combat. If anything, the enormous battleships of the clan were still able to repel counter invasions or raid fleets by the other species. Their battle dreadnoughts could fire a powerful railgun round that could easily shatter an enemy vessel if struck with just a single shot. At unavoidable close ranges, the ships carried numerous heavy railgun turrets that could easily rip an enemy vessel unless they were in a group. Meanwhile, the Alara’jal had greater access to anti- matter that they used in their warheads. If a single ship got hit by one of these weapons, it could clearly destroy it and severely damage any close adjacent vessels in the radiative shockwave.         What ultimately led to the downfall of the Alara’jal is often debated, but one that is easily assumed. The Yutilians knew that the titanic race was a lingering threat upon the galaxy. Countless raids foresaw that they needed to be stopped once and for all. It is said by many Itrean historians that “The Palieran clan and their loss was almost a tragedy, but the same Kingdom of Kre would later be more revered for unleashing a disease onto the Alara’jal, with almost little protest by the other clans.” It was debated but deemed necessary that a powerfully constructed disease could wipe out the clan. Of course, diseases were often a viable form of weaponry, but the kingdom almost knew that they could achieve it on their goal. So they constructed and unleashed a dreaded disease onto them nearly 5,000 years ago. What became known as “Fey’lolo’Pren’s Disease” is often looked at as a prelude to the famed Zilik’s Disease in 2340. It had proved to be incredibly effective. The plague was almost impossible to stop as it was finally dropped on nearly all the Alara’jal worlds. Within ten years, the disease would wipe out 2/3 to even ¾ of the population. What survived was weak and vulnerable to attack. Within fifty years, the Alara’jal had lost five worlds to attacks. Grueling ground battles were made as the resistance was low. Space fleets were dwindling as the attacks became relentless. Even with the disease, it almost appeared that the Alara’jal would actually make it. Despite such a horrific loss of life was one that they still managed to endure. They still held out rather well in ground battles, as expected. They redoubled their efforts to maintain an ever-present fleet of warships, but it was starting to appear that there was no hope. All the clan species had begun to gang up on the dwindling population. Each clan species would engage in orbital warfare as the Alara’jal were slowly losing the war. Contingency plan after contingency plan was being fallen upon. There were attempts by the Alara’jal to try to negotiate a surrender. Those that had broken free of the Alara’jal warlord’s grasp begged to be spared, but it was becoming evident that most of these pleas were being unanswered. Some believed that other Itrean clans simply ignored the messages or might have considered them false. To others, many simply feared and hated the enormous race of people. It was difficult for such a negotiation to be made in the first place. For many of the Alara’jal, it was stand and fight or lay down and die. There was a collective thought process that many of them would fight to the end. The Alara’jal had become embroidered by this style of warfare and philosophy. Any thoughts of giving up were discouraged. Unlike the other clans, there is generally a consensus that the species would never retreat even if they knew that they would stay and die. Colony after colony had fallen or been obliterated. The Shal’rein and Aksren had proven to be just as barbaric as they would nuke worlds and slaughter any few surviving Alara’jal. Then the worlds would be restored and colonized in their places. Finally, within 500 to 200 years, it would be known as the “Final Age for the Alara’jal.” Numerous deep space raids by finished asteroid or rogue moon bases were being done as some last attempt to hold any struggle to maintain the fight. To many human scholars, the mistake of the clan species was that they had utterly discarded any idea of trying to escape to other portions of the galaxy as a possible idea. There was no exit or escape strategy. The clan simply chooses to fight to the bitter end. The final battle occurred within 250 to 200 years ago, with the Itreans officially declaring the Alara’jal as extinct. Legacy of the Alara’jal Despite the annihilation of the clan species, there has been a lingering impact that the species left behind. The three surviving clan species would usher the “Age of Negotiation,” as the Alara’jal was looked at as another victim of genocide. Some would still question if the Alara’jal were completely wiped out as well. The possibility remains, but if that were the case, their ability to fight has been all but removed. Surprisingly, the Alara’jal would indirectly help the other clans in the War against the Emphra. A strong effort by Gular’shel, a famed tactician of the Shal’rein clan, had helped deciphered the location of Outpost-1078. This was the last bastion stronghold that the Alara’jal used to help continue their fight to the bitter end. Even if their extinction was determined over 150 years ago, their original launching platform was never found. Gular’shel made a risk that if it could be found, any surviving Alara’jal and their assets could be used to further help the Itreans in combatting the Emphra. He had succeeded in the late 2290s when he found it. With an Itrean scouting fleet in pursue, he managed to get into the enormous shipyard but had found the Alara’jal occupants dead, most likely due to suicide and dwindling resources. Much of the interior was also devoid of anything of real value with the exception of a few things. It appeared that several dreadnoughts were still in operational condition but simply didn’t have the crews to use them. These ships were quickly salvaged and removed from the facility before the Emphra completely closed in. Any further efforts to recover the scuttled remains of the log entry computer banks had been interrupted as Gular’shel made a quick retreat back into inner Itrean space. Later the outpost would be nuked several times to wipe out potential Emphra infestation. While the dreadnoughts of the Alara’jal were used to significant effect, none of them survived the Emphra War, with one of the ships taking out several Emphra vessels before being destroyed. Sadly, little else could be really reported to what the Alara’jal could have done if they were still alive to fight against the Emphra. There are still mysteries to the Alara’jal. Attempts to further decipher the damaged databanks had only hinted that one of their super dreadnoughts was supposedly completed but wasn’t present in the shipyard dock facility when Gular’shel arrived. While some claimed that the superdreadnought might have been destroyed in earlier battles, others claim otherwise. One of these titanic warships may be on the loose, but again, it hasn’t been spotted. One hundred and fifty years later is a long time for any form of odd counterattack, and most likely, it may never will. With fragmented data, it is simply too difficult to tell if anything else had survived. Ship Design Philosophy It is more than easy to tell that the Alara’jal had the largest of vessels. Multi-gun platforms and heavy ballistic missiles were often considered to be “their sizes” in how they fought and shot at other enemy vessels. To be hit by one of these would cause catastrophic damage with anti-matter- guided warheads that could cause massive shockwaves of gamma radiation upon striking a target. For all the intentions, it seemed that the Alara’jal might have been invincible in ship-to-ship combat. Unfortunately, that is where most of these advantages come to a close. With the exception of their star fortress before the Aksren clan captured it, they didn’t have many ship-producing facilities. Only a few planets and specially guarded hidden dockyards where manufacturing the fleets necessary, but these warships were expensive and hard to produce. Unlike the complex Palieran clan vessels, Alara’jal required enormous facilities to take care of themselves. The trade-off was that there were often too few to really serve in pure offensive campaigns. The Alara’jal battleships, which were twice the size of the other Itrean clan battleships, were also twice to three times the cost. It would also require two or three of the other Itrean clan battleship to gang up on one lone titanic warship. The irony was that if the Alara’jal had a true infrastructure, it might have been possible for them to make severe headway or even completely dominate the Itrean clans. However, it simply wasn’t to be. The battleships, while powerful, could still be taken down by a couple of well-placed nuclear warheads. Despite this, the Alara’jal should not be underestimated in ship-to-ship combat. Size can still have some advantages, and the race had equally impressive feats. Their engineering had managed to produce some of the most significant designs, such as the great siege super-dreadnought class. Designed as a weapon of last resort or to bring terror, the great railgun cannon can fire non- hypervelocity nuclear or anti-matter shells. Regular hypervelocity shells can also be used to crack up or obliterate moon bases in a single shot. Most have claimed that the ship is overkill, with only a few that had been built. Their sizes measured to 2000 to even 5000 meters in length. Most of these would do little in actual ship battles, being little more than expensive fat targets to be destroyed. They were used to their full potential in the ancient years but were barely used by 200 years ago. Instead, battleships like the already large Fibotartin class formed the core network of offensive and defensive capability.  Ground Combat Philosophy It was most likely obvious to any UHN analysis that fighting an Alara’jal would have been downright suicide. Their enormous sizes meant that they had the most incredible of wrap armors. These armors could easily repel any form of small arms fire, with the exception of the best railgun emplacements. Even the Shal’rein had learned to respect them on land as they could easily overpower them. Their small arms were armor- piercing weapons that could best any form of armor in turn. However, much like the Shal’rein, a single Alara’jal soldier can still be killed if done correctly. They were not completely invincible as it had been known for the colossal warriors to be gunned down from time to time. Even the Gesh’Ot clan of ancient ages past had still managed to be quite feared in their tiny high-powered dart weapons. It’s usually in large-scale numbers when the invaded clan obviously loses the battle. The Alara’jal did have a few ground vehicles, including mechs, tanks, and mobile land fortresses but they didn’t really need them most of the time. Their giant mobile ground fortresses were really only used for planetary defense duties. The occasional armored personnel carrier or super tank would be seen, but they were really just used to house commanders in battle. These vehicles, when encountered, were just another way that they could easily dominate a battle. This could be applied in the same format with planetary aircraft. They had managed to make oversized gunships, but that was it. *Spoilers if you haven’t read Gabatrix: Relics* It wasn’t until 2350 when an expedition was launched to Zalri’Eko, the last Alara'jal outpost. Operation Reliquary was made by both the UHN and T’rintar clan alliance to investigate if there were potential survivors from Zalri’eko. During the daring raid on one of the listening outposts, it was revealed that a single Alara'jal battleship had escaped Zalri’eko’s demise. It jumped to the outer fringes of Itrean space to a habitable planet for the refugees to settle on. There, the survivors created a colony to grow and flourish.            However, the present caught up to the Alara’jal living on their peaceful planet. With Aksren forces investigating the wake of the UHN/T’rintar’s movements, they launched a reconnaissance fleet to combat any potential forces that lie in the remote system. With the allied forces' help, the Alara’jal managed to get their warship’s guns operating just enough that they surprised and destroyed one of the Aksren battleships.            With the Alara'jal warship, allied forces conducted a planetary evacuation for the Alara’jal people. The thousands of inhabitants would safely jump away from the system back to the Sol System before the Aksren would launch another fleet to attack the system.            The Alara'jal's reported survival was a shock to the UWA. Even if the population numbered in the thousands, the Alara'jal had proven to handle against all odds. However, it was ultimately down to the T'rintar clan to decide what to do with them. At the time, the survivors were brought to Earth, where they established a colony in North America. The T'rintar clan was more open to a random group of survivors that could help them fight against the other clans than having another enemy. Most of the sheer hatred towards the Alara'jal had long died out when they were originally and supposedly wiped out. With 2350, the Alara'jal have established themselves on Earth. They will be made citizens and help play a small role in slowly restoring the environment to its original flourishing habitat. The T'rintar clan's biggest goal is to ensure that the Alara'jal can restore their lost population. Most reports had indicated that the people were originally malnourished, but the UWA and the clan have made sure that the titanic people were well fed, properly cared for, and given all the necessary resources to ensure their future survival.  As the Alara’jal continues to settle in on Earth, more and more humans are beginning to interact with them. This even includes children that are born from human and Alara’jal parents thanks to simple Itrean gene therapy.
The Alara’jal warships were enormous. Even their Super Dreadnought is almost impossible to fit on the screen.
