The Alamaiz Mark 1 Class Defense Dreadnought

*Spoilers if you haven't read past Gabatrix: The First Peace arc* “We always look at our dreadnoughts as a ship that never gets the glory. It sits there doing nothing, but when they fight, they fight like a berserk Alara’jal,” A random Yutilian Adjunct. The inevitable revolution to the Oldra and Mondra class Dreadnoughts, the Alamaiz class Defense Dreadnoughts are a peak design of potent warships used by the T’rintar clan. While expensive to produce and never in the numbers that other clan dreadnoughts have built, the defense dreadnoughts still serve an important role in countering the other potent warships of the other clan species. Design It is of no surprise that the Alamaiz or “King” is based off the Oldra and Mondra Dreadnoughts used in the past. There was some argument that the clan wasn’t going to continue building an improved model of the venerable Oldra and Mondras. With the advent of civil war, they might have instead relied on the older designs of the Pre Emphra-War vessels. For the former Yutilian clan, the ships were overall better than the original Jaxcala Class Dreadnoughts. While they lacked much of the guided munitions storage capabability, they made up for the versatility of what it could do. By now, most of the Yutilian veterans and new crew members have been used to operating with railguns. It was decided to expand upon the railgun turret by introducing newer high-powered model. A special hybrid turret was created where the bow dual particle cannons were moved to these turrets. This would allow more room in the front to carry four bow mounted heavy torpedo tubes with a large storage facility to house reloads. Much like the Italq Mark 2, the ventral secondary bridge was moved to the bow section and a secondary VLS array was mounted in its place respectively. Essentially, much like the Aksren Akra class, the frame maximized its storage facilities and combat capability to the fullest. There are some unique qualities to the design, unlike the Aksren counterpart dreadnought. The Alamaiz does carry a heavier loadout of warheads, although the CIWS capabilities was still moderate and weaker. In many aspects, some consider the Mark 1 to be better than the Akra class, but it does make up for the price. Yutilian engineering had been somewhat weaker than Aksren shipbuilding. The cost of manufacturing these vessels also staggers its ability to be so willingly tossed into front line combat. History Much like the T’rintar clan battleships, the Alamaiz was introduced right when Zilik’s Disease had called for a temporary cease-fire among all the clan species. Construction of the dreadnoughts had been hampered as the workforce was knocked down by half and the will to build them had stuttered. When the civil war was bound to continue, however, it was deemed necessary to continue construction. Only a few of the dreadnoughts would be fully commissioned by the end of the year (2340 human equivalent). The T’rintar clan often looks at the Alamaiz as another defensive warship design. Fear of losing these prideful vessels often led them to be kept in planetary defense duty only. In reality, however, they did manage to see combat from time to time. With the Itrean Civil War being more of skirmishes rather than large scale battles, usually they were never put into harms way, but the few attempted invasions from the Aksren or Shal’rein did prompt the use of these ships. Typically, it mostly involved serving the role as command ship and coordinating assets in battle as it was intended, but still serving as a viable warship. Technically, the ships have done well with only a few being lost in combat. Their impressive loadout are more than perfect in protecting themselves while having the railguns on standby. When it comes to the UHN or the UWA, the only true few sightings of the warship are in the defense fleet over Earth (Itrea). With the fact that the planet was given to the T’rintar clan, more and more of these dreadnoughts are being diverted to there. As of the very beginning of 2350, almost five of the Mark 1s have been deployed to join the fleet formations. More are expected to go to there as time continues. The success of the Alamaiz, despite its almost quiet service, was to introduce the new improved Mark 2. Much as normal tradition, the Mark 2’s introduction has helped the Mark 1s in being pushed out into more aggressive or dangerous missions.
